Experiential learning and traveling in India
4-week Permaculture Tour in Karnataka
January 10 – February 6, 2008

WHAT IS PERMACULTURE
Permaculture: noun. (permanent culture) “A design science rooted in the observations of natural systems”

Live an authentic India through the lens of sustainability and cultural exchange.

Experience both rural and urban examples of how India and her people are responding to farmer’s suicide, women’s economic development, diversity and heritage seeds. Our stays will span work with small-scale sustainable farm development to an urban underground restaurant and art lounge, as well as visit biodynamic farming and appropriate technologies women banana fiber co-op, and wild life preservation sites.

Through lectures, travel, site visits/stays, films, and hands-on projects participants will build relationships to India and her people while becoming better equipped with pragmatic sustainable skills and solutions for a changing world.

Growing out of rico zooks and aManda greene’s work and travels in southern India this tour is an expression of the joys, challenges, mysteries, and satisfactions of mother India. While focusing on permaculture and the many aspects of sustainability we will be interacting with India from a place of sharing and exchange. We will travel and live in a variety of ways, some quite comfortable, others being part of the adventure. We will observe, study, inquire, work, socialize, contemplate, play, and explore.

*These dates are tentative. Honoring the spirit of flows and the constant of change we are committed to creating an experience for the cultural and educational benefit of the group. It might seem appropriate at a given time to stay longer at a site or to leave early…we might even go somewhere unplanned. We are creating a living experience and open to the spontaneity that arises when traveling. If we collectively feel a change in plan is necessary then we will shift and accommodate. *
